Foods on my list that disappear

One of the things I loved about logging my food here is how easy it is to use the lists of foods you have already entered. But after I entered foods for several days, they started disappearing. Foods I know I've entered more than a few times just vanish. Why? It is inconvenient to have to search for them again and again. I don't mind scrolling through a longer list, since I can alphabetize it, but I do mind, having to search numerous times for the same foods. Thanks for listening!

-Allow the meal plans to be more customization!
allow us to input at what times we are our meals
allow us to have more than three meals a day, because a lot of people are doing 5-6 small meals a day not just 3
allow us to add multiple ingredients to a "recipe" so we do not have to add every single ingredient individually.

-Make it easier for people to post in the message board. Because it is fairly complicated.

-Add "weight lifting" to exercise/strength

-make it easier to find friends

-allow us to tag people, and to create groups with certain people.
I would love to do biggest loser, but I do not know how to without hosting it on my page (chaotic) or posting it in the message board, but then anybody can jump in if they didn't read the rules. and you cant have that.

-offer more services like recipes sharing, exercise routine sharing, measuring tools, calorie plans, ect.

I loveeee mfp, but I want to see if offer more customization on the food log! If I were to stop logging in it would be because of that.

wii workouts

I play the Wii a lot for my exercise, but I think that it would be nice if some of the Wii resort games were added on to the lists of exercises. The Wii resort has some good workouts on it, but there are none listed under the exercise are of MFP.

I always have health related questions and have seen many postings on health related questions but there isn't a good place to put them. Could you consider a new forum for health related questions/topics? This could be the place for topics about digestion, back problems, etc related to diet and exercise.

Hey,

I don't mind the ads really, but right now, the side ads are showing up at the top of my page and they make my diary move three or four times every time I load it. I have a pretty wide monitor, and it wasn't doing this last week or the week before. Is this something that you can adjust?

Calories consumed during strength exercise

I'm a new member and added both cardio & strength exercises but only see calories created for the cardio. Is there a way to get the calories burned during my strength exercises?

I would like to see it work where if you forget to click "Complete this entry" if you have food and/ or excersice logged for that day, it is still counted......there have been several times I have logged food and excercise thinking I'm going to go back and add something else like a snack or something and I dont and my count starts over at 0!! I've also read previous posts about counting total days logged and not days in a row......

MFP's currently set up to reduce caloric intake by 500 calories per target pound loss per week, and this is resulting in swathes of people being set to a paltry 1200 calories, regardless of their BMR. Those same people end up not logging and eating exercise calories because they think it defeats the purpose, when in fact that is how MFP is currently designed...

I would suggest, in addition to setting the lower limit to a person's BMR rather than an arbitrary 1200 using the original method, to give a second option: TDEE minus a percentage. I'd also suggest to make this the new default guided goal method, and leave the other as an option for those who prefer it.

You calculate a good TDEE estimate first, and I would suggest something like http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/ since it makes it much easier to determine activity level than a general "lightly active", "moderately active", etc option which can be difficult to choose from due to lack of granularity. Then, rather than picking a weekly weight loss target (which is currently abused, such as by those with like 10-15lbs to lose and setting it to 2lbs/week), you pick a percentage to shave off of the TDEE daily, like 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%. Again, I would suggest not allowing the goal to fall below the user's BMR.

For people who choose to use the TDEE-% guided goal setting, rather than the original Eat-Your-Exercise-Calories design, they should be able to log their exercises for tracking purposes only, if they choose to (I don't). That means that on the food goals page, you don't add the burns to the TDEE-% calories, in order to avoid confusion.

Yes, people can, and many do, use the TDEE-% with MFP's custom goal option, myself included. But one quick glance at the forums should show you just how confusing the entire existing setup is for newbies. At least if the option and calculations are built in, it's easier for the helpful members of this site to direct the newbies to changing their setup, and they'll be more inclined to listen if they don't have to go to an entirely different domain to do some calculations.

I realize this request will likely fall on deaf ears and be buried quickly by people requesting features that already exist. But I just thought I'd post it anyhow. I probably wasn't the first to do it, either. But seriously, it's getting ridiculous to see "1200" keep popping up in every other thread. These people trust you, sometimes even over their own medical doctor's advice! But there is way too much confusion with net calories, gross calories, exercise calories, and so forth. If you have a look at your own forums, you'll see that I am right, this is a big issue, and should be fixed.

No "Zumba" in Exercise

I think a lot of people do Zumba and I don't see this type of exercise in the Exercise tab. Could you please add this? Thanks!

I don't know about anyone else but I would love to have a calendar of sorts where we can plan our workouts ahead of time. The same for meals would be nice too but I know that could also be achieved by just adding it to each day.

Hello all!

First of all, I would like to mention that this website & app has changed my life for the better. I wouldn't have even bothered to try to get healthy if it wasn't for this app making calorie counting easy and accessible.

I've noticed that this website has a "Weight Loss" section for those of us among us who are overweight, often unhealthily so. However, I'm having difficulty with locating the "Weight Gain" Section for those of us who are unhealthily underweight. I'm wondering if there is any place I can go within this community to discuss gaining weight healthily and in a cost-effective manner.

I, for one, have tremendous difficulty eating 2000 calories a day, even with aerobic exercise and strength training, let alone more than that without throwing it up. I'm sure there are others like me who also have difficulty eating such massive amounts of food. This alone could lead to some interesting discussion and I was hoping if there was a part of the website dedicated to fostering such constructive, spirited debate and discussion.

Again I thank you kindly for allowing the difficult journey of reaching good health easier to attain to people around the world.

P.S. As an aside, I've noticed a glitch with your system. When trying to gain weight, your system counts it as "Losing Negative Weight." Wouldn't it make more sense to say "Gaining Weight?" Cheers!

I love MFP - I have lost 33 lbs since last July using MFP to journal my food and exercise. Mostly I use the iPod app. When I come to the web site, the shaky bits on the front page make me dizzy. It just makes the page look cheesy. So unfortunate for such a great site.

Calories burned for strength training?

I work out using the P90x program, yet when I try to put that into my exercise category, it does not count any calories burned. P90X is a non stop workout even on strength days. Any chance you can add p90x into your system so that a user would only have to select the workout for that particular day? For example: p90x chest and back, p90x yoga, p90x legs and back, plyometrics, etc... Each f these workouts burns a whole lot of calories for anyone following the program. It would make using this site much less cumbersome in the exercise portion. thank you

I have another app I use at the gym that also calculates my calories burned. It would be very nice and easy to be able to quick add calories burned (just like the quick add for calories consumed).

I know I can create my own exercise and enter the calories there. That is not what I am looking for. A quick add calories burned just like the quick add calories consumed would be neat and quick. (unless you can get bodbot.com to auto sync :)

Reducing the number of clicks

I'm a new user. One of the reasons I changed from another product was the cumbersomeness of the other web site. So far, I really like this one. But, there are ways to reduce the number of clicks the user has to be preform. For example, when you go to the add food page (on the web), you have to position the cursor in the input box and click. Why no preposition the cursor there so that you can immediately begin typing.

I wish when you start a new topic on a group that you are in that it would post on all group members profiles in that group and not just yours. This way I could remind group members to weigh-in or create a challenge in one place without have to individually message them to remind them to go to the group.

I also wish that just the groups that you are in would show up in the android app. Where the pictures are at the top of the screen, there would be room for another picture that could be the groups you are in and the blogs you follow. There doesn't have to be access to all groups & community stuff. But if the groups you were in were on the app, then it would be easier for folks to be a part of ...be able to post topics and reply to topics.
